On the outskirts of Breda, along the A16 highway, lies the Rithmeesterpark business park. At the heart of this park stands a sustainable office building that integrates the latest technologies in energy efficiency, circular construction, and smart systems. The tenant of this office is BDO Accountants & Advisors.
A Sustainable Design
The design of the office at Rithmeesterpark focuses on minimizing environmental impact. By using high-quality insulation materials and triple glazing, heat loss is significantly reduced, resulting in low energy consumption. In addition, the building’s roof is covered with more than 230 solar panels, which supply a large portion of the office’s energy needs. The entire structure consists of wooden columns and beams, as well as CLT walls and floors.
Another key technology implemented is the use of heat pumps. These systems provide efficient heating and cooling for the building without relying on fossil fuels. Thanks to all these sustainable solutions and installations, the building is energy-neutral and achieves an average GPR score of 8.4.
Circular Construction
The ambitions for this office go beyond energy efficiency. The building is designed according to circular construction principles, meaning that the materials used can be easily dismantled and reused. This extends the lifespan of raw materials and minimizes waste. Recycled concrete and sustainable timber are examples of materials used in the construction of this office.
Subsidies and Guidance
The development of this sustainable office was made possible in part by several subsidies and tax schemes. Van Draeckeburgh applied for multiple EIAs (Energy Investment Allowances) as well as the MIA scheme (Environmental Investment Allowance).
This sustainable building is a symbol of the future. By investing in circular construction, smart technologies, and renewable energy, this project demonstrates that sustainable development is achievable. Rithmeesterpark serves as an example for Breda and actively contributes to a greener and more sustainable future.
