The EIA is intended for entrepreneurs who want to invest in energy-saving technologies and the use of sustainable energy within their business. With the EIA, these investments provide you, as an entrepreneur, a double benefit. Not only do you save on your energy costs, but you also pay less income or corporate tax.
A few examples of eligible investments for subsidies:
• Improving the energy label
• Insulating glass
• Enhancing the insulation value in existing commercial buildings
• Heat pumps
• Thermal energy storage
• Heat recovery from ventilation air
The EIA can also be applied for to cover the cost of an energy advice report or a tailored EPA (Energy Performance Advice). This advice must be provided before the investment commitment (contract) is made. The eligible investments are listed on the Energy List.
You can deduct 40% of the investment costs from your taxable profit, on top of your usual depreciation. This results in a net tax benefit of over 10%. Naturally, the energy-efficient measures also lead to lower energy costs.
In 2025, €431 million will be available for the EIA scheme.
