For the creation of meeting spaces belonging to clustered housing forms, you can apply for a contribution toward construction costs.

The construction of meeting spaces for clustered housing forms where people aged 55 and over live is eligible for a subsidy. Construction costs include, among other things:

• Materials
• Design costs
• Personnel costs

The benefits and subsidy amount

The subsidy is a maximum of €2,500 per m² of usable floor area (BVO) of the meeting space to be built, capped at a maximum amount of:

• €100,000 if the meeting space belongs to 5 to 20 housing units
• €150,000 for 21 to 50 housing units
• €175,000 for more than 50 housing units

Important conditions

The meeting space must, for at least the first 5 years after completion:

• Be physically connected to a clustered housing form within a maximum distance of 100 meters,
• Be focused on social interaction,
• Be usable by residents and neighbors on a non-discriminatory, transparent, and open basis,
• No net profit may be made from the operation of the meeting space,
• Have an operational plan describing activities for residents, including expected costs and revenues for the operation,
• You must submit a zoning permit or a mutually signed agreement before September 30, 2026,
• At least 75% of the rental units must be rented at completion under the indexed rent limit for a building with 186 housing points,
• Upon approval, the advance payment is made after submitting the zoning permit or a mutually signed agreement. Payment will take place no earlier than January 2026 and within 8 weeks after submission.

Applying for the subsidy?

The available subsidy amount for 2024 is €23 million. Construction may not have started yet for the subsidy application. However, preparation (design, quotation request) may have started.
