The Prinsengracht Hospital, a 19th-century national monument, has a unique history with exclusively female nurses (1857-1978) and later served as an outpatient clinic. After its closure in 2014 due to deferred maintenance, the building was transformed by developers Millten and COD. This restoration resulted in a modern, flexible office space of nearly 6,000 m\u00b2 with an energy label A, while preserving the unique monumental features, such as the characteristic facade. <\/p>\n\n
The previous restoration was made possible through various subsidies and schemes, including the Energy Investment Deduction (EIA), Environmental Investment Deduction (MIA), and green financing. The restoration scheme of the province of North Holland was also utilized. This renovation not only restored the building to good condition but also enhanced its sustainability and improved its energy label. <\/p>\n\n
The Subsidy Scheme for the Maintenance of Monuments (SIM) assists owners of national monuments with financial support for regular maintenance, such as painting, window frame upkeep, and roof repairs, over a period of 6 years.<\/p>\n\n
Thanks to the granted SIM subsidy, the woodwork of the Prinsengracht Hospital was given a new coat of paint in 2021, small cracks in the masonry were repaired, and the condition of the natural stone fa\u00e7ade elements was maintained. The SIM subsidy can be applied for every 6 years. For the maintenance period 2026-2031, applications must be submitted between February 1 and March 31, 2025. Starting next year, the subsidy amounts to 30% for monuments used commercially and 50% for other owners. This ensures the monument\u2019s condition is preserved and its historical value maintained.
